Join a Ballarat cycling community that loves bikes, loves getting fit in fresh country air, and loves a coffee with friends after.

Ballarat's longest running road cycling bunch

The Saxons are an open, informal, unstructured peloton - anyone is welcome to join a ride, finishing with coffee on the Lake

About

The Saxons ride out from Saxon House (Mair Street Ballarat) typically at 8am every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Ballarat is surrounded by great cycling routes in every direction, so we'll head out into the wind to enjoy a tail-wind home for coffee - it's a fresh ride each time.

The peloton often splits to match riders' speed preferences, meaning we suit riders getting fit averaging around 24kph, and those feeling in form averaging around 28kph, over our 60km to 70km rides.

The Saxons also join events as a bunch, like Blue Pyrenees Magic (120km) and Audax (200km). We visit Torquay each summer (120km) and raise funds for cancer research at the Fiona Elsey Ballarat Classic (up to 170km).

Many riders also do gravel and MTB, for which Ballarat offers unlimited options.
